I love helping people. It's one of the things that gives me the most fulfillment in this life. I enjoy out door activities. I like to hang out with friends. I'm okay with repetitiveness even though I prefer spontaneous adventure. I love animals. I enjoy exercising, playing guitar, recording music, writing poetry, and participating in MMA. I like to talk, but I'm not always quick to start a conversation without some coaxing. I'm not always ON. Some days I'm chilled out, but other days I can seem just plain hyper. I'm a pretty normal guy once you get to know me. I like watching SOME sports, but I'm not one of those crazy sports nuts. I'm slightly handy when I need to be. I dislike diet drinks . More than 8 hours of sleep is a luxury. I'm definitely a multi-tasker.

I am not your garden variety Negro, and I guess that comes from being a military brat. I've never been out of the country, but I've lived in California, Delaware, Illinois, and currently Mississippi for college so I feel I can say I've had plenty of experience with dealing with different kinds of people. I never let anything keep me down for too long, only use it to refine myself. I'm the kind of person whose day is hard to ruin. If I ask you a question as trivial as 'how was your day', 99 times out of 100 I actually want to know or else I wouldnt have bothered. I try to see the hidden meaning and motivations behind peoples actions all the time, but not so much to call them out but because I enjoy knowing what drives people. Personally, my desire to live a life doing what I want to do when I want to do it is my reason behind everything I've done since 7th grade (reading His Dark Materials can do that to an impressionable mind). In the meantime though, I value having fun and a good time above a lot of things, save homework. I like to meet new people, but am the shyguy and will take a while to open up but once I do, you will find a friend you'd like to keep around. At least that's what I'm told...

A bit outside of what some would consider normal. Not that "some" know anything.

I like to travel. I have been on Bourbon Street in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and New Years Eve. I have watched a major league baseball game in Cincinnati. I also like New Orleans for the French Quarter Festival. I have eaten BBQ at the crossroads of Hwy 49 and Hwy 61 in Clarksdale, MS where Robert Johnson made a deal with the devil. A college buddy lives in Lexington, KY where I visit from time to time. Next I want to take a trip to Chicago on the Amtrak City of New Orleans. Do you like trains?

Another interest of mine is shooting sports - pistol, rifle and shotgun. I hunt for meat at the grocery store. I shoot at paper, steel plates and sporting clays. I keep a loaded firearm for self-defense.

Politically, I am closest to the Libertarian Party. Libertarians support maximum freedoms in both personal and economic matters.

I was a volunteer fire fighter for 11 years and "retired" to pursue my license as a Professional Engineer (P.E.). If you meet me, it will become obvious my personality tends toward being protective and I like solving problems and moving forward, toward my goals.

I'm young and stupid, in a hurry to grow up but enjoying the ride, and i think way too much. I just graduated from Millsaps College in May with a double degree in Religious Studies and Philosophy! Intelligence turns me on, and I'm known for dating the nerdy type, at least if you ask ANY of my friends. I'm addicted to great conversation. What defines a great conversation? Well, it starts with a glass of good wine and generally involves some type of philosophical argument, particularly purpose and existence of God. I've developed my own opinions and enjoy arguing. (Not the type of fight arguing, the intelligent and firm, but friendly arguing.)

Lately, since I've graduated, my friends have been trying to get me to go out to the places to get a drink here in Jackson. Apparently that's what all the normal recent college grads do in order to find guys. ... and I'm on okcupid! Ha that's me though, I'll never turn down an opportunity to try something different! About the bar thing... I generally get really sick of it quick and run home to slip on some PJs and get back to my computer... believe me? (Yes, there are girls on the internet) But really, I'm more of a small group of people kind of gal. However, don't shy away form asking me out for drinks if you're interested! That rant is more directed at going out to look for men, if I go with one... well that's a different story!

I love a good pair of heels and feeling sexy. I believe I am truly one of a kind which is sometimes a bad thing, or I'm at least one of a kind down here in the South. I'm a born thinker and I know when to shut up and listen! Man, those types of people are very hard to come by in my opinion. Generally if someone is smart and knows it you never hear them shut up about themselves. THAT is one of my biggest turn-offs!

I also hate sponges and paper cuts! Ha, I'm actually overcoming the sponge phobia! Living alone without a dishwasher kind of forces your to develop immunity of some sort! Paper cuts; eeesh, yep they still give me the heebie jeebies. I have to be really craving Macaroni Grill in order to go there, that paper they put on the table is terrifying!

I LOVE traveling, but seriously... who doesn't? Another great thing about my college (and the past few years of my life)... I have been all over the place (at least for someone who hadn't really been anywhere before) thanks to either my college directly or the people I have met. In the past years I've been to NYC, All over England, The greater parts of the Mid-West, Israel, and this summer? GREECE! ... Ok, let's be serious. Greece was not all that I thought it was going to be... mostly due to the trip, not the country! I did get to scratch something off of my bucket list however! Maybe I'll tell you what that was ...eventually.

I think if I could describe myself in one word it would be curious. I have always been fascinated by the world around me and learning everything about it that I can through books or newspapers or television shows or whatever else. I am not content to just take things that I'm told at face value, I have to learn and discover things for myself. That applies to the music I listen to, the movies I watch, the books I read and everything else. I am never going to be content to just go along with what everybody is doing. I have to be listening to/reading/watching something that challenges me or getting an explanation for something.

I think the always curious part of my personality has motivated me to be a person who is very concerned with service and helping others. I have learned and heard about too many groups of people in the United States and elsewhere in the world to be content to just relax and live the comfortable life I've been blessed with when others are suffering.

I am a Christian and that is probably the thing that has impacted my view of the world more than anything else. The love of Christ is humbling and if it does anything it should motivate those who He has chosen to save to serve Him and others out of gratitude. At least that's how I feel.

Don't measure your life by the breaths that you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.....that's what I'm looking for.
I am extremely romantic. I'm not really into materialistic things. I would much rather you show up at my door with flowers that you stopped and picked yourself somewhere along the way than a wrapped up piece of jewelry, perfume, etc. For me, a gift from the heart means a whole lot more than a gift from the wallet.
I believe that there are certain things that you have to have in a relationship in order for it to work but more importantly for it to last, and those are honesty, trust, intimacy, and passion.
I feel that stimulating someone's mind is just as important as stimulating their body. I love watching the sunset, taking long walks on the beach, curling up and snuggling in front of a fire on a cold night, and staying in bed all day with that special someone on rainy days. I like to go out but I also feel that it is just as important to stay in.
Also, I am a single mom with a 9 year old daughter which allows me to continue to be young at heart. She is the love of my life. But I have a really big heart, so there's still alot of room for someone else too.
I hope someday to meet the man who will be my best friend, my confidant, my comic, my equal, my supporter (not necessarily financially, but more in things I do - career, hobbies, etc.), my gentleman, my bad boy, and my lover.
I do believe that everyone has a soulmate out there somewhere. I just think sometimes it takes alittle longer for some of us to find that person. So whatever you do, don't close your eyes and stop looking. You never know who might wind up right in front of you one day. (and you sure don't want to miss it)

I am Julie-Kate and I come with a Southern accent included. I like a multitude of things and am generally content with everything else; I like to think I'm fairly easy going and do quite well at going with the natural flow of things. While I generally am not active due to being stuck around the house, I do /like/ to be active and can think of nothing more enjoyable than horseback riding, white water rafting or simply raising some hell on a fourwheeler. I am passionate for art- drawing and painting- and am nuts for animals. I own a small circus of shelter dogs and cats, a number of siamese fighting fish, and ride my friend's horse, Candy, when I am able. We have a very strong love-hate relationship and she frequently tries to put me in the ER; her latest attempt involved trying to lay down and roll in a lake with me on her.
I am a Unitarian Universalist, worshipping as a Christian, and have a deep love for different faiths and cultures. I believe very strongly in doing as you would like to do, so long as you do not negatively affect others in the process. Freedom and self-expression means everything to me.
I was brought up in the beautiful and frighteningly conservative state of Mississippi, where being a liberal, a homosexual, or an animal rights advocate is strictly taboo. Be all three at once and, well... I've heard people audibly praying for me under their breath while I stood in line at the grocery store.
I was pulled from the public education system in freshman year to start homeschooling. The reason for this was that I had begun to have panic attacks, crippling ones where I could easily convince myself a small headache meant that my appendix was going to erupt, and then I would lock myself in a stall and cry and any soul that happened to pass the bathroom would be horrified by the noise. Because it sounded like a dying hippopotamus drowning in the toilet.
I'm better now. Therapy, chocolate, and medication can do some wonders. Oh, and I was given a puppy. Also helped.
Honestly I am not here to find a romantic relationship. My hope is that I can find friends here- kindred spirits- that I was never able to in high school, someone who I can share a little bit of my life and happiness with.

Just a person taking life one day at a time, not a very serious type person unless the situation calls for it. Even though I am young I have achieved a lot in life already, but of course I gave up a lot to be where I am today. In a nut-shell, I'm the coolest guy I know. There that's all you need to know. But for those of you that desire to know more about the people that you see on here, and may not be down with arrogance, I am a 25 year old man who is well educated, well rounded, and well....done?? I am a fan of good cheer, good fun, and good friends. When I am not bumming around on the computer, you can most likely catch me hanging out with my peeps, either on the stoop, in a club/bar, or just out and about. I love people, I find everyone to be unique, and that uniqueness is exactly what life is all about. Ideally, I would like to explore a career in either higher education or in the political arena(not wanting to be a politician, too dirty and disrespected but we all need to work right??) I'm a twenty year-old undergrad at a small liberal arts college who is trying not to go totally loopy and succeeding rather well. In short: I'm a bundle of nerves, but I'm pretty cool. I can be wound up like a kettle drum, tense, short-tempered, impatient, yet all that energy makes me push myself to do and learn all kinds of stuff. If you figure out how to unwind me, I can be one of the most spontaneous and fun people you'll ever meet. I can go from staid intellectual conversation to random humor in a heartbeat.
