About Jackson, Mississippi

Named after the seventh President of the United States (Andrew Jackson), Jackson is Mississippi’s largest city and its state capital. Because it is known as a ‘well-ordered’ city, exploring its many wonders is very easy. It is a town of interactive museums, an astonishing planetarium, and a town of interactive theatrical arts all mixed in with a distinctively southern style.
Entertainment is something that you will not have a problem finding in Jackson. The Jackson Zoo and the Russell C. Davis Planetarium, which is the tenth largest in the U.S., are two family welcoming places. Fifty-four parks and facilities are available in Jackson. For outdoor admirers, Mynelle Gardens is a beautiful seven-acre oasis. An array of libraries and museums are accessible but for those looking for live theatrical entertainment, Thalia Mara Hall is the place to go. Thalia Mara Hall, once known as Municipal Auditorium of the City of Jackson, provides citizens with an array of ballet, opera and symphony shows, concerts, and plays by neighboring performing arts associations. Farish Street Festival, Country Cajun Crawfish Festival, GermanFest, and Medgar Evers Parade are just a few of the many events held in Jackson. Mal’s St. Patty’s Day Parade and Festival is perhaps one of the most anticipated events that you just cannot miss.
